In a nation and world out of balance, one may wonder if the wisdom of the ancients can offer remedy for our contemporary ills and the personal challenges of daily life.
Shamanism has been termed by anthropologists the “world’s oldest profession.” Shamans, technicians of the sacred, have been known for their “magical flight” - soul journeys to other worlds - as well as their healing knowledge, ability to divine useful information for individuals and communities, performance of meaningful ceremonies, and willingness to walk with us through the transition of death and dying.
Although perhaps the first form of spiritual practice known to humankind, its efficacy and ability to affect change in our health, relationships, and direction of life has not disappeared from view. Shamanism, and the spirits who partner with one in its application, are still here, ready to offer divine wisdom, firsthand knowledge of the spirit realms, healing power, and a path to spiritual independence.
In this brief initiatory experience, you will discover the path of shamanism, and its power to safely connect you with other realities, and the powerful support of your own spirit team.

Together, we will uncover:
- The nature and context of shamanic practice - and why such a practice is available to us now in the West,
- The roles that the shaman may take in helping and healing others - and shamanism as a way of life,
- The “cosmology of the shaman” - a general way of viewing the map of the spirit worlds in which the shaman travels,
- The types of helping spirits that shamans can work with, and how these transpersonal forces can aid us in our daily pursuits,
- Safe and drug-free methods for expanding one’s consciousness to make way for direct spirit communication,
- How to make the sacred journey to meet your personal animal guide and healer - and how to invoke its power for inner and outer struggles,
- And much more.

This gathering combines digestible lecture, the experiential exercise of shamanically journeying to discover or interact with one’s own power animal, and question-and-answer, all in a welcoming space cultivated for warmth and community connection with like-minded persons. It is suitable both for those who know nothing of shamanism as well as those who consider themselves seasoned veterans in the Western shamanisms.
As we connect directly - no intermediaries required - with the compassionate forces of the Universe, the “doors to the cosmos” fly open, allowing us access to firsthand knowledge of the Other Worlds, wise insight that we can apply to our personal struggles, and spiritual healing that can aid us in living a more purposeful and empowered life. In other words, as we step onto the path of the shaman, we begin to explore a life and world of spiritual freedom.

What to Bring (optional but recommended): Something soft to cover your eyes with (such as a sleep mask or bandana) and a writing utensil and notebook for note-taking. Please dress comfortably. Tea will be available at the beginning of the event.
