About this Event
C. Asa Call presents a book launch of their third self-published collection of poems ingracious windpipes: A Symposium for Ghosts Still Forced to Make a Living. The evening will include a reading from the book, which has been hand-crafted as a small edition run, and installation-based performances exploring central themes from the collection.
With dancers Sara Caplan, Rainbow Fletcher, Nicole Flores, Madeline Gregor, and Shayley Timm.
About the Book
Biting, seething, morose, and sometimes manic tones emerge from a diverse group of characters in this new collection of poems. An owner of a truckstop diner in Tennessee, a knight who duels the Jabberwocky, an Odysseus-like sailor caught up by a siren, an old woman who wears chainmail under her bathrobe. These characters are stubborn, often grieving, and full of grudges, but also surprisingly playful, revealing an absurd sense that kindness and tenderness can only dazzle through most genuinely when the blunt vents of our inner dialogue are opened wide.
