Overview: Join us for our next InfraGard Orlando Chapter meeting featuring a unique behind-the-scenes experience and a timely compliance discussion.

We’ll kick things off with an overview from the U.S. Tennis Association, offering insight into how a nationally recognized sports organization operates and supports large-scale events. Members will also learn about a special tour opportunity, providing a closer look at the venue and its operations.

Our featured presentation, “HIPAA – Myths, Truths and Consequences,” will unpack the confusion surrounding HIPAA and what it actually requires. Too often misunderstood or misrepresented, HIPAA is a federal law with specific regulatory and enforcement components. This session will clarify common misconceptions, outline the role of the Office for Civil Rights, and provide practical insight into what organizations should understand about compliance, risk, and accountability.

It will be an engaging morning of learning, connection, and meaningful dialogue across sectors.

Topic: There are many self-proclaimed experts on HIPAA touting the requirements. Many still refer to HIPAA as a “standard,” which it is not. HIPAA is a federal law that has been implemented in parts over time, adding to the confusion. Most really do not understand the purpose, the regulations, or the required policy and procedure implementations. The Office for Civil Rights, a division of the Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for enforcing the federal regulation.
