Industrial Roots - An Evening with Lisa Pike

Join us from 7:00pm on Thursday 3rd October for an evening of story telling and discussion around the lives of working class women.We are excited to be working in collaboration with Heloise Press and Optindie to bring you an event with Canadian writer Lisa Pike discussing her book Industrial Roots.Rooted in the oral tradition of storytelling, INDUSTRIAL ROOTS is an exceptional collection of domestic vignettes narrated by different female characters. The stories in this book concern mainly the daily experiences of blue-collar life amongst the members of a working class family in Ontario.Lisa Pike uses a variety of registers, from slang to standard English, to shape the characters’ stories. This book is a linguistic gem that brings the English language to its limits.
