Industrial Refrigeration Plant Tour: From R22 to Natural Refrigerants

Join us on May 1st for an exclusive technical tour of the newly converted refrigeration plant at Jessie Lord Bakery, featuring a state-of-the-art low-charge R717/R744 (Ammonia/CO₂) cascade system.

This facility recently transitioned from a legacy 55,000 lb R22 refrigeration system to a modern natural refrigerant solution utilizing approximately 9,000 lbs of ammonia (R717) and 9,000 lbs of CO₂ (R744) — while simultaneously increasing overall cooling capacity.

The project represents a significant step forward in sustainability, refrigerant risk mitigation, and high-efficiency industrial refrigeration design.

Two sessions available:

• 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM
• 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM

Attendance is limited to 20 participants per tour to ensure safety and an engaging experience.

Participants will visit:

• Compressor Engine Room
• Control Room
• Equipment Roof Level

Attendees will gain insight into:

• Low-charge ammonia system strategies
• CO₂ cascade integration
• System design considerations for industrial bakeries
• Operational and safety considerations
• Lessons learned from large-scale refrigerant conversion

• Safety Vest: Encouraged (please bring your own if available)
• Safety Helmet: Not required
• Safety Shoes: Not required (facility is not under construction and no slippery surfaces are anticipated)
