Indoor Mushroom Growing

Are you fascinated by fungi and dreaming of growing your own mushrooms indoors? Join us for an engaging workshop on the basics of indoor mushroom cultivation and the ins and outs of running a small-scale mushroom operation.

Hosted by Farm Alliance of Baltimore member Acres4Change, you'll learn about their innovative process of retrofitting a shipping container into a fully functional mushroom production facility.

In this workshop, you will:

• Discover different types of edible mushrooms and their ideal growing conditions.
• Learn about the essential equipment and materials needed for successful mushroom growing.
• Explore the challenges and rewards of indoor cultivation, including maintaining proper humidity, temperature, and airflow.
• Receive expert tips and tricks to ensure a bountiful mushroom harvest.

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase mushrooms and merch on site!

About the Farm: Acres4Change (A4C) a non-profit organization based in Baltimore, MD creates a pathway for land ownership for BIPOC farmers through a stewardship business and mentorship program. Learn more at acres4change.org

This is an in-person workshop. Pre registration is required so we can plan accordingly. We suggest that attendees wear weather appropriate attire, and closed-toed shoes. Be sure to bring a water bottle! There will be extra masks, waters, hand sanitizer, sunscreen & bug spray on site.

• Parking Information: Acres4Change is located on the campus of Green Street Academy (125 N Hilton St). Charm City Caps growhouse is a green and white shipping container located in the parking lot visible from the street. Enter on Hilton St .where you will see solar panels in a parking lot. Street parking and parking on the campus is free.
• Access to Restroom: Restrooms are located in the school. An A4C representative will direct people to the restrooms as needed.
• Other Notes: Paths are paved, access the shipping container by seveal steps, there will be shade & seating on site.
• Cancellation Policy: In the event that we need to cancel due to weather or unforeseen circumstances attendees will receive an email notification.
