About this Event
Why is Indonesian food so delicious?
As I was about to dig into a plate of Nasi uduk, my mum sitting next to me said:
“It’s because Indonesian food is based on fresh spices and herbs.”
And when you and I look at the list of food below, and notice the fresh herbs and multitude of spices used in Indonesian cooking, it truly is a huge contributing factor as to why Indonesian cuisine is so flavorful and exciting to eat.
In these classes, you will be guided by Lilly, who will use the traditional technique to create sambal paste. Working in groups, you will prepare your meal from scratch from introducing all Indonesian ingredients to preparing your spice paste.
The menu for this class will be:
- Sate ayam(chicken sate with peanut sauce and rice pack)
- Ayam bakar taliwang (grilled chicken)
- Beef rawon (East Java beef stew)
- Gado-gado (blanched vegetables salad with peanut sauce, crackers)
- Tempeh goreng (Stir fry soy bean cake)
- Eggplant belado (deep fried eggplant with dried chili sambal)
- Bergedil (Potato and meat patty, deep fried)
- Prawn nasi goreng
- Gudeg (stewed jackfruit)
- Klepon (glutinous rice ball with palm sugar syrup, salty coconut coat)
Enjoy the feast together, finishing off with a delicious dessert. You will have the opportunity to mingle with other participants, learn from others, and chat with Lilly. Have opportunities to ask questions and learn more about Indonesian cuisine.
