Indigo Hour: Big Luke & The Soul Disciples at the Blue Room
About this Event
The Indigo Hour is how the Blue Room does happy hour: live music on the bandstand starting at five-thirty, the week left at the door. This Friday brings a debut worth leaving work early for — Big Luke & The Soul Disciples, on the corner of 18th & Vine for the very first time.
Kansas City already knows this band. Two years running, they won the KC Blues Society's "Road to Memphis" challenge — 2023 and 2024 — earning the right to represent Kansas City at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, where they reached the semifinals on their first trip. They've played the Boulevardia main stage, lit up KKFI's airwaves with a live in-studio set, and earned a Best of Kansas City nod from The Pitch along the way.
The sound is soulful blues first, but don't get comfortable: Big Luke's five-piece pivots on a dime into Motown, smooth jazz, R&B, and funk, all delivered with their special blues-filled interpretation. Their motto says it best — music from the heart that you can feel in your soul.
Come early, grab a drink, and be able to say you were there the first time. $5 at the door, free for AJM members — seats fill up.
The Blue Room, 1600 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO 64108. Friday, August 7 at 5:30 pm.
