Indigo Dyeing 101 w/Sophie Kanter

Come learn the art of indigo dyeing! This fun class will teach you the basics of indigo dyeing and leave you with new knowledge and a fun design of your own creation. You'll learn all about the process - how to make an indigo solution, how to make beautiful patterns on cloth, and how to make the dye last through washes and wear. Each participant will receive 1 napkin to dye in a manner of your choosing. Wear something that you don't mind getting messy! All materials will be provided.

Sophie Kanter is a textile artist living in Washington, DC. A native of the city, she is inspired by plants and everything nature has to offer, in addition to beautiful modern design. Her practice includes natural dyeing, embroidery, cross stitch, and much more! The best part of her art is sharing the process with others and seeing the unique creations of others. In addition to art, she also loves chocolate chip cookies and other people's dogs.
