About this Event
You're invited to Indigenous Women in Cinema: The Rage, The Healing, The Creativity
Come join us on Tue, Mar 11, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the CUNY Graduate Center for an evening honoring Women's History Month by showcasing the lived experiences, struggles, and power of Indigenous women, celebrating the role of film in telling their stories—both through the lens of the filmmaker and the eyes of those whose experience resides within the narrative.
Acknowledge the rage born of silence, the healing through shared narratives, and the creativity that bridges the two.
Hear from Lakota activist Marcy Gilbert, film directors Jalena Keane-Lee, Beth Castle, and Kath Akuhata-Brown about using film to assert sovereignty, and self-determination, and shift narratives to create social change.
This event is hosted and supported by here4HER, Peace is Loud, American Indian Community House, and CUNY DGSC.
Mahalo Nui, Kia Ora, and thank you to CUNY Indigenous Sovereignty Collective, Pacific Island Film Festival NYC, Warrior Women Project, and Mauna Kea Education & Awareness.
