Join us for a day of prayer and solidarity as we walk for the water on Indigenous Peoples DayWe will be stopping at several points along the way to rest, offer spirit plates, pray, say a few words and of course, use the restroom.
We will be meeting at noon at the Ralph Wilson Gateway & Trail parking lot and start walking around 1pm.
We will be walking counter clockwise on Riverbank drive around the island (a map will be coming soon as there is construction)
Afterwords, we will meet for a potluck meal so please bring a dish to pass as well. There is electrical outlets on the island for food warmers, etc.
In honor of nibi and water walker Grandma Jo, we will be carrying buckets of water with us on the walk. Please bring chairs, good walking shoes, and buckets (if you choose).
“Water has to live, it can hear, it can sense what we’re saying, it can really, really, speak to us. Some songs come to us through the water. We have to understand that water is very precious”
