About this Event
On October 22nd, accomplished Chef Tawnya Brant and renowned writer and journalist Waubgeshig Rice will come into conversation in the form of a panel to discuss Indigenous Food Sovereignty, Wonderworks and the Whitesky Saga.
We invite attendees to learn firsthand from both speakers about the intentions of their work, the meaning behind their stories, and take away practical strategies for applying texts to contemporary realities in support of reconciliatory praxis.
The gathering is an open community event, with the goal of building bridges between the Indigenous communities of Tkaronto, the wider Indigenous literary arts community, the ELA teaching profession, and students in various fields of study. The exact location for the gathering will be sent directly to those who register.
In the spirit of promoting nutrition and wellness security on campus, we ask that you bring a item to contribute to our new resource pantry that will be located in the Indigenous Education Network at OISE. Items may include: non-perishable food items, baby formula, personal care and hygiene products, etc.
