Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Conference

Minwaashin Lodge's annual Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Conference is a day-long conference (9-4pm) that allows us all to gather as workers, survivors, and as community members wanting to learn more about the individual experiences Indigenous survivors face, and the importance of culture and healing when working with Indigenous survivors across Turtle Island.

This year, attendees will have the opportunity to hear three phenomal speakers touch on topics surrounding the male experience of trafficking, working with youth survivors, and how connecting to culture is an important foundation in healing Indigenous survivors. We have speakers and performers who hold lived experience, so our conference is a safe space for survivors to attend, listen and learn.

The conference includes:

• light breakfast, lunch, and refreshments.
• opening and closing ceremony from our lodge's knowledge keeper and co-founder, Elder Grandmother Irene Compton.
• Performances from drummers and dancers
• Presentations from knowledgeable speakers from across Turtle Island

There will be smudging available at the entrance and throughout the day for those who would like to. We will also have paper bags and tissues at tables, so that tissues with tears can be placed in them, and will be prayed over and put into a sacred fire by our lodge's knowledge keeper Elaine Kicknosway.

Tickets are $50, but survivors (and community members who have barriers to funding) can attend for free. This is our first year putting a price on our tickets. All money made from tickets will be going towards keeping this conference going so that each year we can continue to provide access to resources, knowledge, and cultural healing.
