About this Event

The filmmaking landscape is changing rapidly with the rise of virtual production and its mainstream use in TV shows and films such as The Mandalorian, Westworld and Thor: Love & Thunder. However virtual production is not just reserved studios with access to LED stages and big budgets but is in fact accessible to those involved in small scale indie filmmaking.

Joshua Kerr is an indie filmmaker based in the North East of England and will be leading this 1 hour workshop on virtual production. It is a beginner level demonstration of the tools used for virtual production from a filmmaker’s perspective. You do not need a background in visual effects or knowledge of 3D software to be a part of this workshop and is intended for those with big ideas they don’t yet have the means to tell.

The workshop will cover the following concepts:

Using Unreal Engine to build worlds

Adding people to virtual environments

Virtual cinematography

A list of free and useful resources.
