For the last year and a half, we've worked hard transforming the Indian Trail Library lawn into a shared space for birds, bees, butterflies, and all of YOU! This garden and meadow will not only provide food, respite, and shelter for our winged friends but also a place of play and enjoyment for our community. We have stocked the garden with native berry-bearing trees and a pollinator meadow that showcases being good environmental stewards through sustainable practices while creating beauty and helping our wildlife.
Now we're ready to share this garden with all of you!
The ceremony will start with music provided by the Lilac City Homeschool Band, followed by a Susie Tree Dedication ceremony, where patrons of all ages are encouraged to create tree grams, (personal messages and wishes for the future) on biodegradable bookmarks. When the bookmarks biodegrade, they will nourish the environment and your wishes will become part of the trees for decades to come.
The City of Spokane's Parks Department will then demonstrate how to properly plant trees/shrubs to ensure success and will raffle off several potted trees ready for your fall planting!
We will end the event with a family treasure hunt in the garden. :)
