Join us Saturday, October 10 as Index Art Center brings together a compelling mix of painting, sculpture, and multimedia work for Index Open Doors, our annual fall exhibition at Teachers Village.

AMB Dance Theatre, director Alicia Blanks along with Dezirae Rodriguez, and Claire Lin will be moving to Bach Cello Suite No. 1. This piece is open to interpretation. The choreographer, Alicia Blanks, created the piece with the intention of family and friends. The title of the piece is "friendship"
Window Installations by Sunil Garg at 89 Market Street and 245 Halsey Street
We are also featuring the work of Sunil Garg, an artist who shapes light itself into dynamic, immersive sculptures. Garg’s installations blend natural and computer-driven illumination to engage viewers in themes of environmental impact, colonialism, and consumerism. His work, rooted in early training and experiences in India, merges scientific knowledge, environmental awareness, and avant-garde performance, creating pieces where light transcends material, becoming a vehicle for reflection and critical insight.

WHY WE VOTE: An Installation of Signs (This is an outdoor gathering)
The Trump administration is trying to discourage and restrict people from voting. Our Democracy depends on people exercising their right to vote. In our Democracy elections are how Americans settle our disagreements and determine the direction of our country.
The solution to attempts at voter suppression is for more people to get out and vote! In our exhibit we hope to encourage and remind people of the significance and value of their vote.
The signs have been collected from an open call that declare, Why We Vote. The signs are both handmade and digital works and were collected from the Newark community as well as other communities across the United States.
