? LIVE MUSIC SHOWCASES
1.00 – Moreish Idols (Speedy Wunderground)
Moreish Idols are a five-piece South London-based band who know no bounds. They released their explosive debut EP, Float, in 2022, through the iconic Speedy Wunderground, with 2023 seeing the release of their second EP, Lock Eyes & Collide. Lock Eyes & Collide has the quintet dealing in hyper-melodic guitar, murmurs of unassuming poetry, blossoms of saxophone, and rhythms that pulse to their own inarguable logic. You could spend days trying to define what exactly it is that they’re doing, but you’d be wiser to just lose yourself within Moreish Idols’ twists and turns.
1.30 – Vanity Fairy (Moshi Moshi)
Sonically devoted to the sounds and styles of the discotheque, Vanity Fairy is an irresistible live performer, inviting you into "a disco in another dimension, a disco that feels like it could last all night long" (Jack Saunders)
2.00 – Ella Raphael (Fire Records)
Ella Raphael is blessed with an amazing voice; a woozy, bluesy, euphoric sound that’s filled with warmth and emotion. Brought up on Elvis, Ella Fitzgerald and Edith Piaf her travels in the UK, US, Australia and Spain have refined that eclectic mix, adding The Shirelles, Julee Cruise, Love, Serge Gainsbourg, Karen Dalton (to whom her lilting vocal occasionally recalls), ESG, Broadcast, Vashti Bunyan, Catherine Ribeiro + Alpes, the original masters of Tropicalia, exotic 50s guitars and the more esoteric sounds of The Beatles. There is something free and uninhibited about her. Her music bridges alternate realities, if past to present or connection to disconnection. Wrapping it all with lush harmonies and psychedelic hymns, low- fi and freak folk.
2.30 – Malin Andersson (Futureproof)
London based Swedish singer-songwriter Malin Andersson releases her 2nd album Space to Feel - an exploration into the phenomenon of personal high sensitivity within today's society & defense of the self. With rich acoustic led arrangements, the album is a window into Malin's life experiences since moving to London, touching on epiphany moments, personal loss & enlightenment, plus her thoughts & feelings on climate change. Malin will be performing songs from the album at 2.30pm on the live stage with vinyl copies of Space to Feel available to buy at the Futureproof stall.
3.00 – Joyeria (Speedy Wunderground)
So far, Londoner (via Poland and Canada) Joyeria has charted his career in invisible ink as an outsider always does. Always a shape shifter, never a genre chaser. He’s quit bands when their buzz was the buzziest, he’s released music under names even devotees could never remember how to spell and has insisted on building his backstory entirely with gaps in the narrative. He’s a maths-wiz, a crack chess player, a painter. Built like a hockey player, with a frame carved out by late nights and tour life - he is an imposing figure until you step into the presence of his gently voracious enthusiasm.
The songs are also funny. Dark and refreshingly funny in an era where self- depreciating comedy — from the mouth of a songwriter who can strut and swagger — too often comes across like a bet hedged against the confidence it takes to write songs with guts and brain cells. It is a breath of fresh air to hear genuine humility in the vocal agility of Joyeria, who has come to terms with the fact that slouching and posturing are equally favourable and forgivable techniques in the pursuit of getting the weight of life off one’s chest and into music.

? AFTERPARTY
After a full day at Coal Drops Yard, come and celebrate some milestone birthdays at one of ILM’s favourite afterparty haunts: The Standard. Far Out Records marks its 30th anniversary, while Wah Wah 45s and STRUT each toast to 25 years of brilliance with some extra special DJ Sets.
