There are too few emergency shelters for parents and children experiencing homelessness in the Twin Cities Metro. At the same time, more youth are experiences of domestic violence that make their homes unsafe for their family.
In response, The Link has grown our unique Young Families Supportive Housing Program to serve more than 40 families last year including more than 50 children.
The Young Families Program uses a two generation approach to disrupting cycles of homelessness for young parents and their children. Our team works with young parents to transition out of homelessness into an apartment that meets their family's needs. The Link provides rental subsidies, weekly case management, and early childhood development resources to support parents in building long-term stability for their families.
