Durga Puja 2024, a five-day festival celebrating the descent of Goddess Durga on earth, will take place from 9 October to 13 October 2024. The festival begins on Shasthi (9 October) when the idols of Maa Durga are installed and worshipped, followed by Saptami (10 October) when the Goddess is invoked with life. On Ashtami (11 October), Goddess Durga is worshipped as a young and virgin girl, and Sandhi Puja is performed in the evening to worship the Chamunda form of Goddess Durga. Navami (12 October) marks the last day of the festival, with a Maha Aarati organized to mark its conclusion. Finally, on Dashami (13 October), the idols of Maa Durga are moved for immersion into the river, marking the end of the festival.
