Queen's University is proud to mark the outstanding contribution that Lord Trimble has made to society for over fifty years through this exciting event.
We are delighted to welcome guests to the unveiling of a portrait of Lord Trimble, painted by renowned artist Colin Davidson, following which Lord Bew will deliver the inaugural Lord David Trimble lecture.

Lord Trimble graduated from Queen’s in 1968, qualifying as a barrister in 1969; he pursued a successful career at the University, as a lecturer, going to become Assistant Dean of the Law Faculty in 1973 and then Head of the Department of Commercial and Property law from 1981 until 1989.
Lord Trimble is perhaps best known for his political career which led to the historic Good Friday Agreement in 1998. In October 1998, Lord Trimble and John Hume were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of their significant role in bringing an end to the conflict in Northern Ireland.
Queen’s is delighted to mark the immense contribution that Lord Trimble made, both in terms as an alumnus and academic at the University, but also in honour of his civic impact, which has created a legacy of peace.
