In We Fall are a compelling alternative metal band from Vila Real, Portugal. They are most influenced by bands like Breaking Benjamin, Alter Bridge, and Sevendust, creating a distinct and exotic sound bursting with flavors of alternative metal, progressive metal, and grunge. Overall, the band does not “write songs” as much as they compose intricate representations of the most profound feelings we collectively share, delivered with a rich, sophisticated sound that is hypnotizing, mesmerizing, and altogether unique. In We Fall, then, are not just recording artists. They are an experience, including heartfelt vocals, intriguing lyrics, clever guitar work, and spectacular drumming.
In We Fall were founded in late 2022 by Carlos Carneiro (guitar) and Frederico Lopes (drums), after having a conversation about starting a band from scratch. Soon, they added Daniel Moreira (vocals & guitar) and Luis Almeida (bass guitar), all resulting in an explosion of creative metal-aesthetics. In 2023, they released three singles reflecting their signature sound, respectively titled, “Silent War,” “What Now,” and “Empty Hand,” and their live debut was featured in the Portuguese Winter Festival “Boreal,” where they shared the stage with other Portuguese bands as well as the American band: The Last Internationale.
All of the music by In We Fall is produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Daniel Moreira at EvoluiSom Studios, and he has been envisioning a project like In We Fall since boyhood, when he recalls jamming with current drummer Frederico Lopes, both at age thirteen, both daring to dream. Similar inspirations from youth are the band’s binding tie, as Carlos started playing guitar at age ten, taking formal lessons at nineteen, and finally going to university for classical and jazz guitar currently. Moreover, Luis was playing the bass at age twelve, and has absolutely loved rock and roll for as long as he can remember. In We Fall are not just a band. They are an event, in it all the way through the blood and the bones
Recently, In We Fall signed with Eclipse Records in order to release their debut album titled, Inner Self, an expression of musical potency featuring heavy riffs and melodic nuance, metaphorical lyrics and philosophical overtones, tantalizing hooks and dramatic dynamics. This is a standout concept record that explores motifs such as the costs of war and all facets of the multileveled relationships we have with each other, the puzzles we try to navigate within ourselves, and the love-hate relationship we keep with the world. We use our brute strength as much as we feel with our hearts. We endure the more difficult lessons when we learn how to fall, and sometimes we are defined only by the bloody footsteps we’ve left on the ground. That said, in terms of the theming of Inner Self, the band altogether have illustrated for us a vision that welcomes the inner-self, sometimes defined as “alter-ego,” filled with passion and dreams in the world of algorithms and machines, leaving the listener primed to fill in the blanks of the journey we all share together.
