In the Light of Reverence – Movie Screening, Discussion & Community Meal

Join us for a special screening of In the Light of Reverence, a powerful documentary that delves into the profound connections between Native American communities and their sacred lands. This film showcases the struggles of the Lakota in the Black Hills, the Hopi in Arizona, and the Wintu in California as they strive to protect sites integral to their spiritual practices.​

Narrated by Peter Coyote and Tantoo Cardinal, the documentary highlights:​

• Devils Tower (Mato Tipila): A sacred site for the Lakota, now a popular rock-climbing destination.​
• The Four Corners Region: Central to Hopi spirituality, yet threatened by mining and tourism.​
• Mount Shasta: A revered place for the Wintu, facing challenges from recreational and commercial interests.​

The film sheds light on the broader issue of religious freedom and the ongoing conflicts over land use in America.​
