About this Event
Travel to a series of stunning locations where Ansel Adams composed some of his most famous photographs. Each stop in the Footsteps of Ansel Adams offers you the opportunity to see the very same scene through your own camera lens, as you are guided in-depth by an expert staff photographer to best capture the iconic vistas. In this class you will dive into the philosophies and life stories of the man behind the legend. You’ll get to practice Ansel’s photographic techniques, and learn how he pushed the popularity of landscape photography while helping to motivate the American environmental movement. Join Ansel’s legacy in immortalizing Yosemite National Park while composing your own extraordinary photographs.
Day-use visitors can participate in classes with The Ansel Adams Gallery too! Your class receipt serves as a reservation for entry to the park. You will still need to pay the park entry fee. Final rosters of confirmed and cancelled attendees are provided to the Park Service each evening (the day before).
Photographer Ansel Adams immortalized Yosemite National Park through his classic black & white images. His images pushed the popularity of landscape photography while helping to motivate the American environmental movement. Through the course of the class, you will visit a number of locations from where Ansel composed some of his most famous images. At each location, you will have the opportunity to see the same image through your lens and work more in-depth with the scene around you. You will receive insight into Ansel's life, photography and philosophies as well as basic lessons in photographic technique.

- Level: Beginner to Intermediate
- Class Limit: 6
- This is a field oriented class, allowing the participants the opportunity to photograph in beautiful Yosemite Valley. Participants will spend 4 hours out in the field walking to different locations. The class usually walks 2-3 miles on flat, mostly paved paths.

Photography Class Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel your scheduled Photography Class, please inform a gallery representative in writing via email no fewer than 7 days prior to the scheduled initiation of the Photography Class for a partial refund that reflects a 20% non-refundable charge. Refunds can not be made for cancellations within 7 days of the scheduled initiation of the Photography Class, or for no shows, for any reason.
The scheduled Photography Class can be transferred to another available gallery scheduled Photography Class provided a written transfer request via email is received no fewer than 7 days prior to the original scheduled Photography Class. The Photography Class can also be transferred to another person provided the new attendee participates in the original scheduled Photography Class. No shows, for any reason, are non-refundable.
In the extremely rare event that The Ansel Adams Gallery needs to cancel the scheduled Photography Class, the gallery will refund your full payment. However, the Ansel Adams Gallery will not be responsible for non-refundable airline tickets, car rental charges, lodging reservations, or any other expense outside of the Photography Class payment fee.
The Ansel Adams Gallery highly recommends travel insurance to help with an unfortunate travel related event.
NOTE: About Youth participants
Attendees under the age of 18 need to have a parent or legal guardian present at the beginning of each class to sign a waiver of liability form.
The Ansel Adams Gallery is an authorized concessioner of the National Park Service.
