Workshop Date: Saturday, 1st & Sunday, 2nd March 2025 Workshop Time: 10.00 am to 2.00 pm Age Limit: 18 to 45 years D. H. Lawrence said, "Never trust the teller; trust the tale". Samuel Beckett said, "The best possible play is one in which there are no actors, only text". Even The Bible says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". The text is the foundation of a performance but is often treated with the least reverence. The first step of building a performance is understanding what you are saying, and why the hell you`re saying it. Theatre and film veteran Akash Khurana returns with Akvarious Productions` acting workshop, to help with these very basics. How does performance influence the interpretation of a dramatic text, in contrast with simply reading? This workshop will attempt to answer this and other such questions, all the while depicting how important it is to make sense on stage, and hence, will work towards it. Akash Khurana Akash Khurana has directed and acted in plays by Pinter, Mamet, Mrozek, Havel, Kundera, Friel, Shakespeare, Shaw, and Beckett. He has worked extensively with Satyadev Dubey, Sunil Shanbag and Naseeruddin Shah and is a core member of Arpana, Motley and Akvarious, three of the foremost theatre companies in the country. His production of Vijay Tendulkar’s A Friend’s Story was performed at the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. He was the Artistic Advisor to the NCPA Repertory Theatre and has been on the juries of the Aditya Birla Kala Puraskars and the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards. He is an award-winning actor (Nandi for Dr. Ambedkar) and screenwriter (Filmfare for Baazigar). The River of Love, directed by him, has garnered multiple awards at international film festivals.
