About this Event
On May 12, 1986, nine members of the OES community lost their lives on Mt. Hood. Eleven others on the climb survived the tragic event. Forty years later, we gather in prayer and shared remembrance.
Oregon Episcopal School, in collaboration with the Episcopal Church in Western Oregon and the Trinity Music Series, invites the broader community to a requiem service marking the 40th anniversary of the Mount Hood tragedy. We gather to honor the lives lost, to hold in prayer the survivors and families, and to remember the extraordinary outpouring of care that surrounded the school community in the days and months that followed.
The service will center on Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, along with selected readings, offered as a prayer for the departed and an expression of quiet consolation. Trinity Cathedral’s choir, conducted by Katie Webb, with organist James Walton and chamber orchestra, will be joined by singers from Oregon Episcopal School and St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church on the OES campus.
All are welcome to attend this service of remembrance.
There is no charge to attend; but registration is requested to assist with seating.
