In Season (Aug): Historic Tour of St. Rose of Lima
Founded in 1867 and dedicated in 1869, St. Rose of Lima Church on Eastern Avenue began as a parish for the German boat builders and laborers who worked along the Ohio River and wanted a church of their own close to home. The community rebuilt after a major 1894 fire, and the building still carries high-water marks from historic Ohio River floods — a testament to their perseverance.
On this tour, part of our "In Season" tour series, we’ll look at the parish’s story, note the remaining original stained-glass windows, and learn how devotion to St. Rose has shaped more than 150 years of worship along the river.
Come explore a hardworking community’s landmark and the saint who continues to inspire it.
