About this Event
Join us on the 2nd Friday of every month for a generative writing workshop for People of Color. Together we create, share and explore stories using unique prompts to propel us beyond what we create alone.
Is your creativity & imagation being nurtured?
Here is an invitation to blossom without restraint.
Does your creativity & imagination have the opportunity for an unihabited exhale?
Here is an invitation to explore, experiment, and go deep with your writing without being 'the only one'.
At the end of each workshop participants will have at least (3) new first draft stories + community feedback.
Illuminating Our Voices (IOV) is an intentional workshop community created for People of Color, by a woman of color, centering the creativity of people of color. In IOV workshops the innovation, curiosity and genius from our many diasporas are the foundation for our writing prompts, inviting wonder and igniting our creative unconscious. IOV is committed to fostering and nurturing an intergenerational community for people of color through writing.
The workshop takes place each month on the 2nd Friday, 7-9 PM.

About the methodology:
Illuminating Our Voices (IOV) workshops follow the AWA (Amherst Writers & Artists) philosophy:

- Every person is a unique storyteller with an abundance of creativity. There is no 'right way'.
- We listen to stories for what has impact, what's strong. We do not critique.
