Seeds for Change Workshop
Join us on April 29th from 6-8pm at The Botanic Garden to learn about the many ways in which native plants have the ability to transform the landscape and lives. Their addition not only provides habitat and sources of food for pollinators but provides valuable attributes to combat climate change and the adverse effects of the built environment.
Join artist and plant lover, Jamie John as they share their incredible story through plants and artwork to make a positive change in the way we view the world. Their presentation will culminate with a chance to make your own seedballs using a blend of native seeds to enhance your own home garden.
Also spend some time getting a chance to explore Botanic, an art installation at The Alluvion where Jamie has a native seed library, and The Botanic Garden has a photography display which runs throughout the month of April.
Tickets are $19/members and $25/non-members. Consider joining today and save with discounts on classes. Memberships can be purchased at https://thebotanicgarden.org/
About our Instructor
Jamie John is a 2-spirit queer and trans Anishinaabe and Korean-American multi-disciplinary artist. They are a dually enrolled citizens of both the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and the United States of America. Jamie’s cultural and familial relationships give way to a profound sense of kinship and what it means to connect to land, to ancestry, and to each other. Jamie’s desire to create stems from a need to communicate their lived experience as a queer and trans mixed race Indigenous person living and resisting the logic of capitalism and colonialism.
Please note: In the event of a participant needing to cancel, a ticketing fee will be deducted from any refund issued.
