Accord Treble Choir presents: In Her Image (Manhattan)

As there is no universal human experience, so the lives of women reflect an infinite spectrum of individual combinations of social, cultural, political, racial, ethnic, economic, and environmental elements. However, in a world that is still largely governed by patriarchy, women share a common disadvantage due to gender hierarchy.

Some of the pieces in this program highlight the burdens and struggle of being a woman in this biased world. Others inspire us to envision ourselves as individuals unencumbered by the constraints of sexism and gender discrimination. Still others dare us to see the world, the planet itself, or a higher power as a feminine being with which we can commune in sisterhood - in a reality free of hierarchy and oppression.

Featuring a world premiere by NYC composer Stefania de Kenessey and pieces by Zanaida Robles, Libby Larsen, Chen Yi, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Katerina Gimon, Eva Ugalde, Joan Szymko, and more!
