On August 17th Marie went into the emergency room with terrible pains. There, doctors discovered she had sepsis, two ruptured cysts, a perforated bowel, and several unidentified masses. She was life-flighted to a hospital in Lincoln, where she underwent major surgery. During the operation, the surgeon removed several organs, including an ovary, her uterus, part of her colon, her entire gallbladder, part of her liver, and several smaller masses and abscesses. It was also discovered that Marie has cancerous tumors in her liver.
“Miss Ree,” is a devoted preschool teacher. Unfortunately, she will not be able to return to work for some time as she continues her fight. While the surgery was extensive, Marie will still need to undergo another operation in order to remove the remaining cancer. She will also have some travel expenses, as we know she is in the best hands with her team in Lincoln and she will need to check in with them periodically after her surgery.
