In Her Defense
About this Event
🧡 IN HER DEFENSE
A Women’s Self-Defense, Fitness & Situational Awareness Experience
Have you ever felt uneasy walking to your car alone at night? Found yourself looking over your shoulder while loading your children into the car? Or wondered what you would actually do if you needed to protect yourself?
If you’ve ever experienced any of these moments, this experience is for you.
On Sunday, November 29, Rooted in Women’s Wellness invites you to IN HER DEFENSE, an interactive afternoon of movement, practical safety education, meaningful conversation, and sisterhood.
Held in recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, this experience is about turning awareness into action and creating space for women to feel stronger, more confident, and better prepared.
THE EXPERIENCE
MOVE | Strength in Motion
We’re kicking things off with Q, our female jiu-jitsu instructor, for a hands-on introduction to practical self-defense techniques. Expect movement, a little sweat, and an opportunity to put that post-Thanksgiving energy to good use!
LEARN | Awareness Is Power
Ever wondered what you should actually be paying attention to when you’re out alone? Kayla of Pretty Defensive will guide us through situational awareness, recognizing potential risks, and practical strategies for navigating everyday situations with greater confidence.
CONNECT | Beyond Self-Defense
Protection is about more than physical strength. Join Aaron Epps, former NFL player and CEO of the Acceptance of Excellence (A&E) Foundation, for a thought-provoking conversation exploring women’s safety, the importance of men as allies, and the shared responsibility of creating safer communities.
GIVE | Rooted in Community
We’re also kicking off Rooted’s annual Gift of Giving initiative, bringing our commitment to community care into the holiday season.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned good or nonperishable food item to support local families. Contributions are appreciated but not required.
DOUBLE THE GOOD
We’re coming together to learn ways to protect ourselves while giving back to the community we love.
Because women’s safety isn’t just about knowing how to respond to danger. It’s about building confidence, increasing awareness, and creating communities where women feel supported.
You shouldn’t have to experience danger to learn how to protect yourself.
