About this Event
In Conversation with Award-Winning Author Maria Mudd Ruth
A Skipstone Literary Salon
Join author Maria Mudd Ruth to discuss her new book, The Bird with Flaming Red Feet: Seasons with an Uncommonly Common Seabird, a lively and heartfelt natural history of a charismatic seabird with a surprising story to tell—both avian and human.
"I didn't know that laughing while birding was possible." So begins naturalist and award-winning author Maria Mudd Ruth’s new book about the humble yet charming (and chatty) Pigeon Guillemot. Maria will discuss how she became obsessed with one seabird, how getting to know one bird leads you to appreciate all of nature, the impacts of community science, and her failed effort to dig a guillemot burrow with a chopstick.
In conversation with Kate Rogers, Editor in Chief of Skipstone / Mountaineers Books
Space is limited; ticket price includes a signed copy of the book, drinks and nibbles, original art showing, and the chance to win a special gift from the author
