About Jack Dalton:

Hi, I'm Jack and I'm the Kid Conservationist. I am 15 years old, and I live in the beautiful state of New Hampshire. I love nature, animals, reading, playing board games, biking, watching movies, traveling to new places, and doing anything fun with my friends and family.

When I was eight, I learned about palm oil and deforestation, and how the home of my favorite animal, the critically endangered orangutan, was being destroyed. I knew I had to do something about this. So, I combined my passions—YouTube, video editing, reading, and education—and I became the Kid Conservationist. Since 2019, I’ve been creating fun, educational YouTube videos, interviewing experts in conservation around the globe, spreading awareness through presentations to thousands of people at schools, zoos, and museums around the world. I have also been emceeing fundraisers and doing Keynote speachs. I even wrote a children’s book!

My work has been recognized locally and globally, including being a Top 20 Finalist for the first-ever TIME Kid of the Year 2020, the President's Environmental Youth Award 2021 winner, Action for Nature International Eco-Hero Notable Mention 2021, The 2022 Baron Prize, 2022 Zoo New England Young Conservationist Award, 2021 New Hampshire Fish & Game Youth Conservationist Award, and the OURF Judge's Favorite award winner in their 2020 international video contest for my 10-in-10 Orangutans video. Most recently, I was named a winner of the Disney and Roots and Shoots' "Hop Into the Animal Kingdom Challenge", where youth from across the country were recognized for their conservation efforts.

Orangutans have a very special relationship with their moms, so when Kawan the orangutan finds himself alone in the rainforest, he needs help. Lucky for him, his friends from the rainforest help point him in the right direction. Will Kawan be reunited with his mother, or will he be lost in the rainforest forever?

Kawan the Orangutan, Lost in the Rainforest. I wanted to get children to care about these incredible creatures and to inspire the next generation of conservationists. With every purchase of Kawan the Orangutan, a tree is planted in the rainforest where orangutans live. As a bonus, the book includes exclusive access to a Yoga video that follows the adventure of Kawan.

YouTuberI have a YouTube channel that has fun educational videos, interviews with conservation experts, book readings, ways to help our world, and more. Parents and educators around the world have used my videos, especially during the Covid pandemic.

Public Speaker / EducatorOne of my favorite things to do is to present to kids and adults about orangutans and palm oil. I aim to educate and inspire them to take action. I am a talented presenter (I believe) who can answer difficult questions and keep a group engaged. Presentations include speaking about orangutans, endangered species, protecting our environment, Kawan the Orangutan book readings, and empowering kids to use their voice for change. to educate and inspire your class or group today!

FundraiserI have raised more than $45,000 for orangutan rehabilitation and replanting the rainforest. My efforts will continue this year with sales of my children’s book, which plants trees in the rainforest with the assistance of Orangutan Alliance. Support me by buying the book here.
