In Conversation with Belachew Gebrewold and Phillip Cole

This event brings into conversation two leading scholars of migration and citizenship: Professor Belachew Gebrewold and Professor Phillip Cole. Both have recently published provocative books which present challenging and critical reflections developed over decades of work in this area. They have in common their critical thinking about, and contestation of, the dominant norms of the international border regime, though they differ in their responses.

After a brief introduction, each of the scholars will present their work and then respond to each another, and this will be followed by plenty of time for thought-provoking discussion.

This event is hosted by the University of Birmingham and Aston University and is, in part, facilitated by Masters students from the Department of Political Science and International Studies of the University of Birmingham.
