Valerie Cassel Oliver, the Sydney and Frances Lewis Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the former Senior Curator at CAMH, presents a talk about the exhibition, The Dirty South: Contemporary Art, Material Culture, and the Sonic Impulse. Recently called one of the best exhibitions of the year and a tour de force by the Los Angeles Times, The Dirty South makes visible the roots of Southern hip-hop culture and reveals how the aesthetic traditions of the African American South have shaped visual art and musical expression over the last 100 years. RSVPs are required for this event as space is limited. Advance tickets will be made available for CAMH Members on Tuesday, October 26 at 12PM. Click here to find out more about CAMH Membership.
All remaining tickets will be available on Monday, November 1 at 12PM. For those unable to obtain a ticket, documentation of the program will be later published to CAMH’s YouTube channel.
