Maggie Beer is one of Australia’s most beloved and influential food figures, known not only for her extraordinary contribution to Australian cuisine, but for her lifelong advocacy for better food in aged care and improved quality of life for older Australians.
After being named Senior Australian of the Year in 2010, Maggie’s visit to aged care homes sparked a lifelong mission to transform food standards across the sector. In 2014, she established the Maggie Beer Foundation, which continues to advocate, educate, and support cooks and chefs in delivering nourishing, beautiful food to residents in care.
Through national masterclasses and education programs, the Foundation has influenced hundreds of chefs, managers, and care leaders across Australia. For Maggie, this work remains her most important legacy.
In this special live conversation, Maggie shares stories from her remarkable career, her passion for food, and the powerful impact of her Foundation’s work.
