About this Event

Live at Komedia author Candice Carty-Williams, first Black female winner of Book and Author of the year at the National Book Awards.

Candice's book Queenie was adapted for Channel 4. Her drama, Champion, aired on BBC and Netflix. Her new book, Queenie is Working on It sees Queenie, navigating her 30s – dealing with fertility, medical treatment, racism, friendships, grief and terrible hen-dos.
Candice is a showrunner, culture writer, and author of book of the year and Sunday Times Bestselling Queenie and Sunday times bestseller People Person.

Queenie received global acclaim, and was described as vital, disarmingly honest and boldly political. Queenie was adapted for channel 4 and Hulu. Her original drama Champion aired on BBC in the UK and on Netflix globally, in 2023.

"In Conversation" has grown into a remarkable event series at Afrori Books.
