iMusic Sound & Stage Tour

Take a backstage tour & see the play, Young Americans, at the famous Portland Center Stage. Learn how the cast and crew prepare the sound, stage, and costumes-all to make an entertaining show. Meet actors and audio and visual artists, who help launch this music-led comedy, and learn about careers in theater production. The agenda includes a backstage tour, dinner, and seats at Young Americans.

Sponsored by Portland Center Stage, we will take a tour of the famous theater in Downtown Portland. We will go backstage and see up-close how the sound and stage are set up for their play “Young Americans” young Americans takes us on two road trips, 20 years apart. In one, an exhaustingly upbeat father and his stressed-out, college-bound daughter depart on a trip across the country. Their journey mirrors another trip the father took decades earlier with her mother — as near strangers, full of fresh hopes and dreams, on their way to a new life together. This intimate, music-led comedy veers back and forth in time, offering a fresh look at a U.S. road trip through the lens of the immigrant experience. Yee explores what home and belonging mean to those in transition. We will get a chance to meet the cast, crew, and learn what it's like to work in a career field of sound & stage.

Agenda:

5pm Meet at Portland Center Stage, take a tour, go backstage and see everything in action. Have a chance to talk with crew about various jobs and how to obtain them.

6:30pm we will have dinner and wait for the doors of the theater to open.

7:15pm we will take our seats and the play will start at 7:30pm. The run time is 90 minutes.
