I’m teaching my award-winning improv workshop “Improvise More Like Scooby Doo” in Tāmaki for the first time!
This is a 3 hour improv workshop and is suitable for all experience levels, though I suggest it may be more beneficial to those with at least a year of classes/workshops under their belt.
I have been reflecting on what qualities make a ‘good’ improvisor, someone who enjoys improv, and other people enjoy watching them and playing with them. I have decided that the ultimate inspiration for improvisers may just be famous dog-tective Scooby Doo.
Expect games, scenes, personal reflection, Scooby Doo close readings, and (Scooby) snacks.
This workshop was developed with support from the Women and Non-Binary Improvisors of Auckland group, which I’m so grateful for! If you click through to tickets you’ll see that there is a sliding scale option for your registration fee, please select whichever amount best suits you. I’ll be using earnings from this workshop to help support my trip to the UK to attend the Robin Hood International Improv Festival later in 2026.
About the teacher:
Rebecca (any/all) has been improvising since 2007 and performs with many improv companies in Tāmaki Makaurau including Bull Rush, Casual First Date, and This Might Get Weird. They are the director of Improverished, a theatre company in Tāmaki specialising in joyful narrative improv shows for the whole whānau. When he’s not doing that, Rebecca also teaches children and teenagers as a drama and Theatresports tutor. And when they’re not doing that, they might be doing stand-up comedy or tending to their houseplants.
Testimonials:
“I came away feeling, supported, nurtured and nourished” — Robin
“Well, seems like I’ve found what I was looking for ❤️” — Alex
“Maybe my favourite improv workshop I’ve taken in the past five years” — Jim Fishwick
