Take your directing skills to the next level with filmmaker and comedian Will Sonheim in this two-hour workshop exploring improvisational tools to help bring your scenes and set to life! Get hands-on experience, learn how to add spontaneity to your scene work, and discover tips and tricks for using play to make discoveries on set. By practicing techniques to embrace chances, celebrate mistakes, and follow the fun, this workshop aims to inject fresh energy into your filmmaking journey.
Will Sonheim is a filmmaker and improviser who has been creating work in Chicago for over a decade. Blending his background in improvisational comedy and film, Sonheim has made a career of creating work that embraces the messy constraints of everyday life. A veteran improviser with a Bachelors in Film from Northwestern University and a Masters in Screenwriting from The London Film School, Sonheim has performed around Chicago (Logan Square Improv, iO, The Annoyance) and has worked with SHOWTIME, Music Box Films, and others. Recent directing projects include The Color for Colors Visual Album, Rite of Passage, and POST. He currently works as a freelance video editor while teaching filmmaking as part of Northwestern's Graduate Journalism program.
