Improving Skills for Supporting Survivors of Domestic Abuse - F2F - City
About this Event
This 3.45-hour course session will explore in more depth how to effectively support people impacted by domestic abuse. This session will enable workers with sustained contact with victim-survivors to explore effective strategies for support.
“…the web tightens. It becomes harder and harder to imagine life outside of this control, what it is to have freedom of thought and action. We call this limiting space for action” - Professor Liz Kelly identified space for action and its limitation as an important element to consider when working with and supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
In this session you will:
• Explore space for action and the impact of its limitation
• Consider its importance in agency responses
• Identify ways in which workers can utilise the idea of space for action as part of their support of survivors
• Explores the importance of effective report writing
• Identifies other key good practice points important for supporting survivors.
Please be aware that this session will contain information on different types of domestic abuse. This may be impacting for some delegates. If you are concerned about the potential impact of the content the training team can provide you with an overview of the session.
