Improv Elective: The Monoscene with Brian Shea

About the Class: The monoscene is a long-form structure featuring one uninterrupted scene taking place in one location, an improvised one-act play of sorts. This class will focus on key aspects of characters, relationships and narrative improv to help participants build new worlds through monoscenes. Find out what life without edits really feels like.

This class requires students to have completed LIP's Improv 201 or Artistic Director approval! Students must be 18 or older for this class!

This Class will run Mondays from 7pm-9:30pm on the following dates: 6/2, 6/9, 6/16, and 6/30 (no class 6/23!). This class has a class show on Monday 7/7 at 7:30pm! Ticket sale ends at noon on Saturday 5/31!

About the teacher: Brian Shea (he/him) discovered improv in 2015 and has gone full speed ahead ever since. He joined LIP in 2022 and performs with Peach Soda, Cult Classic and the LIP Touring Company. A co-founder of Highwire Improv, he also performs regularly in the Baltimore area with Teen Angst, Important Screws, Whatever This Is and other special projects. Brian loves to explore the possibilities improv can offer each perfomer. He has never met a tag run he didn’t love and knows way too many random facts about R.E.M.

Scholarships: Some scholarships are available to partially or fully cover the cost of the stated class fee. For additional information, please reach out to [email protected] with your request at least a week prior to the start date of the class.

Refund Policy: We will not refund any orders after the start of the first session.

Parking: There is street parking around the theater on Prince St, King St, and Vine St, which is not metered after 6pm and not metered Sundays! The parking garages are open. Steinman Garage, Prince St Garage, and Duke St Garage are recommended in that order! On the weekends the garage is $5 for the whole day!
