Improv Comedy for Beginners

Learn the basics of Improvisation in a fun and supportive environment. This class is for those who are new to acting, stage performance, or comedy, or those that just want to try to build in creativity and confidence in to their personal or professional lives.
The class is based around acting exercises and practical scenework - where you'll act with others. It's a lot of fun and you'll come away each week feeling energised!

We cover a wide variety of concepts in Level 1 including:

• The essence of comedic acting
• Comedic scene structures
• Performing for an audience
• Creating improvised stories
• Trust, sincerity, and collaboration
• Confident speaking and active listening

The class runs for 6 consecutive weeks, from 23rd September to 28th October (6pm - 8.30pm). There's an optional graduation performance associated with this course.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR
The instructor for the course is Paul Mone, Creative Director of Belfast Improv, and Organiser of the Belfast Improv Festival. Paul has been teaching and performing Improvisation for over 10 years, with over 3000 teaching hours and 200 performances, and produces Sunday Improv - Belfast's only weekly Improv show.
Paul also teaches internationally, and has perfomed at schools and festivals in Athens, Chicago, Dublin, Luxembourg, Manchester, Nottingham, Paris, Phoenix, and Shanghai.
