Improv 101: Intro to Improv (Saturdays)
About this Event
Learn the basics of long-form improv. Students will cover scenework principles like "yes-and" and active listening. Over this six-week period, we'll build the groundwork for comedic improvised scenes that'll jumpstart your love of improv. Classes every Saturday, September 5th - October 10th from 10:00am - 12:30pm.
The course will culminate in a student show on the afternoon of Saturday, October 17th (Time to be determined).

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
- Students are required to attend 2 improv shows at Mettlesome during the course (students get into shows for free)
- Students are allowed a maximum of 2 absences per course.

INSTRUCTOR: Andrea Howland-Myers used to be an opera singer but then she quit and now she does improv. As an improviser, Andrea (she/her) was born and raised at Mettlesome. She first took an improv class there in 2023, now performs on house teams Broken Records and Golden Age, and teaches Improv 101. Andrea has also taught music, French, preschool, and ESL. She loves writing, hosting chaotic dinner parties, and living in Durham, NC.
