This is a two days concert of improvisation with known musical instruments and the unfamiliar devices named Sound instrument sculptures. Happening on 18th and 19th September 2024 in Luckan Helsingfors, Georgsgaten 27 from klo 18:00 to 20:00. The title ”Impromptu Sound” is another way of expressing, what is known as Muusikoiden sokkotreffit in Finnish or Musikernas Blind Date in Swedish.Sound in its primordial nature is the original language of communication before verbal linguistics got refined into schools of categories. This is an approach where Sound can be enjoyed unlearned and with experimentation. A search for a more diagonal approach towards sound, meaning – that has organic asymmetry devoid of influences; and yet treating inspiration to explore by experiencing what resonates in the already existing vocabulary of sound.
The background of this idea evolved from the ongoing project of Suva, called "Reconstruction of Cumulated Sound forms" for which he received a one year artist working grant from Suomen Kulttuurirahasto. The process of building what he calls as Sound instrument sculptures out of recycled materials and instruments also involves improvised interactions with respective Artists whom he never performed before and those whom he had been collaborating in numerous festivals, events and happenings.
18th September - Laura Mehmeti on Accordion and Suva on Renewed Bowed Psaltery.
19th September – Kristine Tukre on Kokle and Suva on Profane.
Laura Mehmeti began her accordion studies with Sylvain Tissot in the Broye region. She graduated from the Hochschule für Musik in Lucerne in the class of Anne-Maria Hölscher and continued her studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in the class of Veli Kujala. She enjoys exploring different aspects and repertoires of instrumental music, both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble, such as the Latenz ensemble in which she has played since 2020. Laura is very curious and is always on the lookout for new experiences to share with audiences at concerts.
