Join us for a two-part pressed flower art workshop inspired by Oshibana, the Japanese art of creating decorative compositions with pressed flowers and leaves.Session 1: Pressing & Preserving Desert Plants
Wednesday, June 10
Participants will take a guided walk through the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens to observe desert plants and collect small natural materials for pressing. After the walk, participants will learn how to collect, press, and care for plant materials.
Session 2: Botanical Composition with Pressed Flora
Wednesday, June 17
Participants will use their pressed plants to create their own artwork with pressed flora. Guests may also incorporate mixed media elements to personalize their compositions.
This hands-on activity invites participants to slow down, observe the beauty of desert plants, and transform natural materials into unique works of art while acknowledging the artistic tradition that inspired the workshop.
