“Why are all the pieces so long and ununderstandable?”—a question once asked by a concertgoer after a traditional recital ranging from Beethoven to Berio—became the inspiration for this concert. Impressions and Fantasies is our answer: a programme built around imagination, lyricism, and accessibility. It moves from intimate salon pieces to virtuosic opera-based fantasies, culminating in the deeply expressive Piano Quintet by the English composer Frank Bridge. Designed to speak to both new listeners and seasoned concertgoers, the programme truly offers something for everyone—uniting musicians from the Wiener Symphoniker, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), and younger international artists in a shared celebration of fantasy and creativity.
