Art+Object's second auction of Important Paintings & Contemporary Art will be on August 13. We are privileged to be offering in this catalogue works from the collection of the legendary New Zealand art world couple, Dr. Francis Pound and Sue Crockford. Dr. Francis Pound is one of the country's most esteemed art historians, responsible for authoring monographs on many of our most revered artists of the twentieth century, including the recent posthumous publication on Gordon Walters, published by Auckland University Press. After travelling to New York together in 1982, Sue Crockford opened her eponymous gallery on Albert Street before moving to the Endeans Building in lower Queen Street where the gallery remained until 2012. Crockford represented many of our leading artists including Gretchen Albrecht, Richard Killeen, Gordon Walters, John Reynolds, Marie Shannon, and many more.Further highlights include works by Paul Dibble, Colin McCahon, Richard Killeen, Fiona Pardington, Tony Fomison, Don Binney, Gretchen Albrecht, Edward Fristrom, and Rita Angus.
This auction will be conducted live in our Newton saleroom with online bidding available via our online bidding platform or app available on App Store or Google Play.
