imperfect index: conversations on graphic design

A series of short talks from the following speakers, who will introduce their diverse practices in graphic design. This will be followed by an open conversation and Q&A.

Rose Nordin’s (rosenord.in) practice and research explores the publication as a site of exchange and collaboration, print technologies as tools for union, and letterforms as modes of magic. She is co-founder of the art publishing collective OOMK, a publication about women, art, activism and faith, and co-founder of Rabbits Road Press, a community and education focused risograph printing press.
Paul Soulellis’ (soulellis.com) practice includes teaching, writing, and experimental publishing, with a focus on queer methodologies, network culture, and archival justice. He is the founder of Queer.Archive.Work, a non-profit project that supports artists with access to studio space, tools, and other resources for queer publishing.
Kaiya Waerea (kaiyawaerea.com) is a writer, designer and publisher concerned with crip feminist methodologies, indigenous knowledge production, and print culture. They co-run Sticky Fingers Publishing, a feminist, queer, disabled-led publisher producing experimental non-fiction at the intersection of academia, visual culture, art, design and performance.
Jodi Hunt (jodihunt.com) works across publishing, music and brand design, visually contextualising the Jamaican and wider Black experience. Inspired by the vibrant cultural expressions of the 1960s and ‘70s and her collection of Black music magazines, her projects explore design as an opportunity to explore histories and understand her identity.
