IMPACT Community Dance Workshops Salsa On2 w/ Benny & Ashley

About

Benny & Ashley's "Salsa On2 Workshop" is the 5th of many workshops inside our “Community Impact Dance Arts Movement” Program being sponsored and hosted by Professor Naomi Pueo Wood and Colorado College. The initiatives of this program are as follows:

1. Increase the level of technical and experienced dancers inside the Colorado Springs community.
2. Connect scholarly community with the local community in hopes of having us work together as a strong unit.
3. Provide the community with easy access to professional dance training.
4. To take all proceeds and provide scholarships to underprivileged applicants a professional dance education through "The Dancing Prism Project" organized by Latisha Hardy Dance & Co Ltd.

Schedule for the weekend:

6 hours of Salsa On2 dance training in the following format:

• Workshop #1 Friday, August 11, 2023 (6:30p-8:30p): Salsa On2 Fundamental & Technical Training (All Level)
• Workshop #2 Saturday, February 11, 2023 (10:00a-12:00p): Salsa On2 Partnerwork (Beginner)
• Workshop #3 Saturday, February 11, 2023 (1:00p-3:00p): Salsa On2 Partnerwork (Intermediate)
• FAVORITO (Pop-Up) Salsa Bachata Social: Saturday, August 12, 2023 8:00p-12:00a (Latisha Hardy Dance & Co Ltd); Performances by Benny & Ashley! (Please note social is not covered by the pass); If you are a student, you may use discount Code: COLORADOCOLLEGE (must present college ID)!

All proceeds will be donated to "the Dancing Prism Project." An organization under the philanthropy umbrella of Latisha Hardy Dance & Co Ltd to provide dance scholarships to underprivileged applicants.

About Benny & Ashley

Benny and Ashley formed their dynamic partnership in 2017. Benny is from Oregon and started his dance journey as an art major in apparel design. At the same time he was co-founder of Lines Dance Academy in Hillsboro, Oregon. His brother and him are also known worldwide as international male duo champions. Ashley is from Los Angeles, California. She was a local and national salsa/bachata champion; her expertise included focusing on dance technique and salsa acrobats. She was part of a well-known company, Grizzly Dance Company. Together, Benny and Ashley focused on strength, power, speed, and technique to add a different aspect to salsa dancing. They have competed in different improv competitions (Fusion Salsa Fest; Salsa Heat) and world class competitions (World Salsa Summit) obtaining 1st and 2nd places. Together they teach worldwide; attending the prestige salsa dance festivals. Now they have added a different challenge to their career by opening a dance academy in Seattle named Baila District. About Naomi Pueo Wood

Professor Naomi Pueo Wood is co-collaborating on this project as a scholar of Latin American and Performance Studies, founder of CC Mobile Arts, community organizer, Latisha Hardy Ladies Dance Team member and holder of the NEH Distinguished Teaching Professorship in the Humanities.

Latisha Hardy Dance & Co Ltd. was established in 2010. Latisha started creating this brand after learning salsa roughly 13 years ago. Salsa helped her grow past a difficult time. The goal has always been to give that back to others. The dance floor is the only place she feels she can truly express herself. Her goal today is to empower the world to empower themselves through the art of dance.
